Enriched Air Nitrox

The Enriched Air Diver course is our most popular specialty SCUBA course. SCUBA diving with enriched air nitrox gives you more no decompression time, especially on repetitive SCUBA dives. If staying down longer and getting back in the water sooner sounds appealing, then don’t hesitate to become an enriched air diver. If you’re a PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver who is at least 12 years old, you can enroll in the Enriched Air Diver Specialty course.

Optional Dives

Dive One

• Execute a dive within the no stop limits, maximum depth and oxygen exposure limits established by the instructor during predive planning

• Perform safety stop at 15 feet

• Return to ascent point

• Calculate repetitive group and oxygen exposure at end of dive (if a repetitive dive will be made)

Dive Two

• Plan an enriched air dive using the RDP, DSAT Equivalent Air Depth and Oxygen Exposure Tables and Enriched Air RDPs

• Analyze enriched air

• Execute the planned dive within the limits determined during the dive plan

• Perform safety stop at 15 feet

• Calculate repetitive group and oxygen exposure at end of dive

Gaining the Knowledge

This will be a comprehensive and very informative training program that introduces you to becoming an enriched air nitrox diver. At your own pace, you'll work your way through the different sections including; getting more bottom time with nitrox, special nitrox equipment, oxygen exposure, analyzing O2 in tanks and setting nitrox on a dive computer. This portion takes between 12-15 hours and must be completed prior to your dives.

Equipment: Most modern SCUBA equipment and dive computers can be used with enriched air, but the SCUBA Heroes Instructor will let you know if your gear meets manufacturer recommendations and local requirements. SCUBA tanks must meet oxygen service standards and be dedicated for use with enriched air. You’ll practice using oxygen analyzers and special cylinder decals. Your SCUBA Heroes Instructor may suggest other appropriate gear.

Why PADI: PADI Divers carry the most respected and sought after scuba diving credentials in the world. No matter where you choose to dive, your PADI certification card will be recognized and accepted. In fact, on most scuba diving adventures, you’ll be surrounded by other PADI Divers who made the same certification choice you did – to train with the world’s largest and most respected scuba diving training organization.
